McLaren Vale has a reputation for producing high-quality Shiraz and Grenache, as well as some alternative varieties from Italy and Spain. Reaching an altitude of up to 350 meters in the Sellicks foothills, these vineyards are influenced by cooler ravine winds, making them ideal for white wines and cool-climate varieties. Most vineyards are located on gently rolling land with strong coastal influences. The Mediterranean climate is characterized by mild winters, warm summers and predictable winter rainfall.McLaren Vale has a reputation for producing high-quality Shiraz and Grenache, as well as some alternative varieties from Italy and Spain. This vintage will be remembered for its challenges, but also for the quality of the wines it produced. Due to extreme weather conditions early in the season, crop yields are low, sometimes very low. Frost, drought, heat and bushfires have affected many parts of Australia. Fortunately, cool and near-perfect conditions later in the season allow for slow and even ripening, resulting in very high fruit quality.
The wine displays aromas layered with blackcurrant, mulberry and mint, with subtle hints of French and American oak. The texture of the palate is fine, balanced and complete.
Recommended pairings: Pair with chargrilled steak or lamb chops or a delicious grilled mushroom dish.
