A peated whisky from the Kurayoshi Distillery, released as part of The Matsui series and dubbed The Peated! It's pot distilled and then matured in white oak bourbon casks, before bottling at 48% ABV. The bottle is adorned with Katsushika Hokusai’s famed piece, The Great Wave, chosen to represent the spirit and force of the whisky within. Nose: Loads of fresh and toasty malted cereal aromas, supported by earthy peat and swirls of smoke and a touch of vanilla oak. Palate: Toasty oak, brown sugar, creamy vanilla and a touch of orchard fruit, all enveloped by ashy smoke. Finish: Peat smoke and fresh apple linger.
